The guardian of the night
Oh no, I did not drew a Batman. That’s my Dear Darling’s thing. Superheroes are his thing. I drew random things and this is the most recent one so far. Like a-week-ago recent. The owl was hand drawn with pencil on paper and the splashes were done using Illustrator CS6. I named this one “Hoot” because I’m so bad with naming things (like this title for example….Guardian of the night? how lame is that?).
Anyway the printed version of the blue owl will be available on T-shirts at Arttee Apparels‘s store soon.
What’s Arttee Apparels? Oh that’s another story to tell. Keep a look out for it, OK?*winks*.
Like my short update? I thought I should let you know that I’m very much alive and very very very pregnant (Opps… that too is another story to be told for another day).
*wink*
Turning pages.
I have been catching up with my reading. A lot of it. So far, I’ve finish reading “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” (I immediately watch the movie too right after reading the book and caught myself listening to the song Hero by The Wallflowers a lot), Life of Pi, Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson and currently reading Blink by Malcolm Gladwell. It’s part of my thirty before 30 list and while I’m in the mood of reading, why stop now?
Hence the very little time spent with pencil and papers. That and I am constantly on the move right now. Been packing in and out of my trusty leather brown suitcase for the past 2 weeks both for work and personal. But I did try to squeeze in some sketches whenever I get some time at the office or at home. Here are the “some” sketches.
No colors. Been planning to though. For the first 2. Planning of doing a sketch up with watercolor on a series of pin up girls. I drew them in a A2 sized 360gsm grained watercolor papers. Oh well. Every great thing starts with a plan, right? The last 2 were quick sketch ups at the office on A4 sized glitter card stock papers. Other than that, here is a peek of what my new project looks like. I’m transferring my doodles on sets of crockery with gold ink.
1 Set contains 6 of flat plates, smaller flat plates, half bowls and smaller bowls. All will be hand drawn with individual patterns. So no plates is the same. Now all I need to do is to bake these porcelains so the color stays.
I’ll be putting these babies out for auction later.
So till my next entry, I’m sending out millions of X’es and O’es your way. May you have a great day.

A Sketchy update
A Sketch A Day project is still up and running. The only thing missing is the date number. I lost count. Cheers.

Mixing Elements
Have had this post safely tucked in the draft for good 2 days with just the images and no words. I seriously dont know what to talk about. I am fresh out of idea and have not been on the sketching mode for the whole 3 days. Yeah, I missed 3 days of my ‘A Sketch A Day‘ project just because I’m “busy”. Well in a way, I kinda am. So I’ll do a walk-through of my process for this particular piece instead of disecting the idea behind the piece itself because well… I’m very occupied as I am rushing to finish my part of a tender before I jet off.
Anyway.
A couple of months ago I figured I had time on my hands to finally transfer one of my patterns/doodles that I have been religiously penned on my notebook to a bigger space and I did it. I used black Sharpie on an A3 300gsm grain watercolor paper.
Weeks later, I got a little crafty by adding in gold cut-out collages in the shape of little triangles on the empty space to create some kind of dimension to the gold element as it hits the lights from different angles. I dont know if I explained it right. Oh you should see it in person.
Tadaaa!
The image is a little blurry but just so you know, I’ll be framing this with a 2 inches lacquared black frame.
